You could sort of see this coming. After taking the Wings to a shootout but losing two weeks ago at the X, the Wild turned in a very strong game tonight, beating the Wings 5-2. Antti Miettenin scored twice and Andrew Ebbett, Marty Havlat, and Guillaume Latendresse added one each. The Wild scored first, gave up a quick goal to tie, then scored next, gave up a quick goal to tie, then scored right away after that, and never looked back. It was an entertaining fast-paced game that even got a little physical towards the end.
Looks like the Wild are now in another upswing on the win some then lose some rollercoaster. The win brings them back to within 3 points of the 8th spot in the Western Conference, and again we get a glimmer of hope that we could see playoff hockey in April.
Speaking of April, we’re getting closer and closer to Twins baseball. And speaking of Twins baseball, Ron Gardenhire was part of the FS North telecast tonight. Typically I can not stand FS-N’s intermission features, especially the Face Off segment, but tonight it was Kevin Gorg v. Gardy. I just love listening to Gardy spew, especially when he’s having fun with it. He dominated in the player vote (obviously) . You can clearly see that he has a sense of humor about himself. After the game he went to the ice to follow up on last year’s hilarious post-game segment where he almost fell over about 3 times. They had Terry Steinback feeding him passes from behind the net and he tried to one-time them. Took him 3 tries but he roofed one, and good times were had by all.
Also I just found out that I will be going to Twinsfest this year, so I’ll bring back some goodness here.
